International Certificate of Competency

ISPA Competent Crew Basic Power

Certified as being competent to live aboard a coastal cruising power driven vessel and act as Competent Crew. In addition is competent to substitute as skipper in an emergency.

Certified to skipper power driven vessels under 4 meters in non-tidal waters where no navigational hazards exist, within 5 miles of safe harbor, during daylight hours only, in light to moderate wind conditions.

 

Day Skipper Power (Intermediate Power Boating)

International Certificate of Competency

ISPA Day Skipper/Intermediate Power

The holder is certified as the skipper to be responsible for the safety of his/her vessel and crew, while operating a power driven vessel, in familiar waters within 10 miles of safe harbor, during daylight, in moderate wind and sea conditions using basic navigational skills.

 

Coastal Navigation

No navigation knowledge required.

ISPA Coastal Navigation Certificate

The holder is certified competent to navigate a cruising vessel safely, in coastal/tidal waters, within 25 miles of safe harbor, by day, using charts, a hand bearing compass, GPS, and navigational aids.

 

Coastal Skipper Power (Advanced Power)

The holder is certified as the skipper, to be responsible for the safety of his/her sailing vessel and crew, for coastal passages within 50 miles of safe harbor, in coastal/tidal  waters, where navigational hazards exist, day or night with good visibility.
