Become Part of Our Community

Become Part of Our Community

Our global and growing community of boaters is creating opportunity for like minded people to communicate and explore new opportunities.

The ISPA Brand

ISPA was established in 1994 in Canada to develop and promote a new pleasure craft training system.

More than 28 years have passed since ISPA’s establishment and in response to societal changes, ISPA is streamlining the training process – making it available to an even greater number of people.

A Better Way to Learn

ISPA is creating a new paradigm in boater education which is:

- Affordable and accessible for nearly everyone
- Convenient and achievable
- Flexible and modularized

Our approach is to promote boating and the boating lifestyle to the global market!

Our goal is to bring more students to all our partner schools and help our schools improve their profitability.

A Better Training System

Our online training system makes extensive use of video and is designed to provide students with theoretical preparation and practical practice.

As a result, compared to conventional training systems, school operators will be able to run their schools more efficiently and be able to take on more students by reducing the amount of time students must spend learning directly from instructors to obtain their certificates.

Your instructors will benefit from students who have completed our online training. It forces the students to explore all relevant materials, study video training, and complete knowledge checks before taking the practical on-the-water training.

Our Competent Crew theory course study is free and open to all. This creates a low barrier to engaging more students and potential customers for your school from the global market.

Additional Benefits of ISPA

In recent years, major countries around the world have been rapidly developing national legislation to accommodate the growing boating population. In Canada, the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) system is in effect, and all boat operators are required to carry a PCOC regardless of their nationality.

ISPA Instructors can issue the PCOC boating license in two ways:

– After teaching a PCOC training session and exam.
– After certifying a student to ISPA Day Skipper students can be issued a PCOC without examination.

National Boating Licenses

In recent years, major countries around the world have been rapidly developing national legislation to accommodate the growing boating population.

In Canada, the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) system is in effect, and all boat operators are required to carry a PCOC regardless of their nationality.

ISPA Instructors can issue the PCOC boating license in two ways:

– After teaching a PCOC training session and exam.
– After certifying a student to ISPA Day Skipper students can be issued a PCOC without examination.

The PCOC is accepted as a national boating license in Spain and in the USA.

ISPA’s Day Skipper certificate is recognized as an alternative to national boating license in:

– Croatian government
– Queensland, Australia
– The Bahamas

Many charter companies worldwide also recognize ISPA certificates as
proof of competence for chartering.

Certificates

Certificate Challenges

In addition to the regular training courses, the ISPA Certificate Challenge offers more flexible certification solutions.

The ISPA Certificate Challenge is a system in which an instructor will evaluate a student who is experienced and issue a certificate after the student demonstrates the required knowledge and skills.

After completing an online course, those who wish to challenge the practical course can use the ISPA video library videos to master the ISPA standards and techniques before challenging the certificate on-the-water.

Certificate Challenge Methods

Experienced individuals including instructor candidates can challenge certificates as a faster and lower cost means to achieve ISPA certifications using any of the following approaches:

– A one-day challenge course held at an ISPA School to evaluate the participants’ skills.
– On a charter boat or cabin chartered boat, an ISPA Instructor assesses the skills of those who wish to take part in the challenge.
